The Right to Isolate

You have the right to remain isolated The public has so kindly demonstrated That we need not break laws to be incarcerated We'll just do it ourselves, thanks, freedom's overrated The best way to impose martial law is to convince the people to stand there in awe while you slice through their rights like a chainsaw and draw up new laws while they call you the boss Our brothers are lost, the Man knows it well urging brothers & sisters to come Show & Tell all their worries and wonder, underpaid and unwell to co-create a police state and build our own hell The game's underway, the public's long been swayed by greenbacks and wage slavery anyway So we blame someone else for the trap that we've made pointing fingers, rescinding our sins everyday Such beautiful lies we spit at the mirror while the glass grows murky, smeared with dirt and fear Our rose-coloured glasses don't let us see clear And the cries of the Mother just slide through ou...

Moving through the temporal plane

Image
My understanding is that time is perceived due to our constantly changing consciousness. It's this condition that allows us to consider one moment different from the next. Objectively, all moments are simply one, and any event that we experience continues to exist independently of whether or not we're perceiving it. The analogy of the flatlanders sums this up pretty nice for me. Imagine a second-dimensional being living on a flat plane, like a piece of paper. That being would be able to move forward, backwards, left, and right. To the flatlander, those would be the only possible options. The concept of  verticality,  of moving  up or down,  would be absolutely foreign to it, and if it tried to express these ideas to a fellow flatlander they'd consider him bat-shit insane. HOWEVER, things are different for us in the third dimension. Since we observe from a higher spatial dimension, we can perceive the flatlander's entire plane - its entire reality - and can see that i...

An Argument About Alternative Medicine

I dunno man, I don't want to sound rude but it doesn't sound like you have much to back up that statement. I know it's standard to bash alternative medicine like TCM these days, but most of the people bashing these treatments just don't know that there's actually a boatload of scientific, clinical research that's been done on TCM. Most people who oppose TCM are rational, scientific-minded people who suspect that there's no scientific basis for the practice. I worked full-time as a health and medicine research author and have been a proponent of both Western and Eastern medicine. Each have their benefits, each have their drawbacks. Neither are inherently better than the other, and certainly neither of them should be consisdered quackery. Perhaps it'd help if I shared my perspective and some western-styled clinical research on TCM. Just because something functions differently than we're used to doesn't mean that it's quack...
