The Right to Isolate

You have the right to remain isolated
The public has so kindly demonstrated
That we need not break laws to be incarcerated
We'll just do it ourselves, thanks, freedom's overrated

The best way to impose martial law
is to convince the people to stand there in awe
while you slice through their rights like a chainsaw
and draw up new laws while they call you the boss

Our brothers are lost, the Man knows it well
urging brothers & sisters to come Show & Tell
all their worries and wonder, underpaid and unwell
to co-create a police state and build our own hell

The game's underway, the public's long been swayed
by greenbacks and wage slavery anyway
So we blame someone else for the trap that we've made
pointing fingers, rescinding our sins everyday

Such beautiful lies we spit at the mirror
while the glass grows murky, smeared with dirt and fear
Our rose-coloured glasses don't let us see clear
And the cries of the Mother just slide through our ears

They've built boxes around our thoughts like clockworks
and we've rejoiced: the less we think, the less hurts
Instead, we trade freedom for unfulfilled work,
enslaved to our media, ads, and keywords.

Seems to be a bad deal, I'd prefer to feel
what it's like to be crushed under Babylon's heel
They've told us to stay, we're programmed to kneel
To sacrifice our free will and pass hold of the wheel

It was never an issue of Us vs. Them,
that's a feint that keeps us cooped up once again
"They" only exist when we want to pretend
that this whole mess descends from someone else's pen

Only then can we open our eyes, and realize
That the script's being written one day at a time
Don't dip the quill's tip in fear, and you'll find
That the show's overdue for complete redesign

The powers that be don't control mankind's mind
but we comply to demands so senseless and maligned
if you're not sovereign, your potential's resigned
and your chance to dance with destiny is declined.

But alas, the dissonance of distorted wavelengths,
Has no impact on those who know our true strength
Those who remind us that we can only depend
On ourselves to mend lives we've forgotten to tend.

The chapter's not done, and the story's new end
Isn't about being locked in your box with no friends
6 feet apart, with flat smiles that pretend
That freedom is someone else's duty to defend

Some say that the darkest of nights has begun
A war fought on the mind, not with bombs or guns
But this is a war that's not yet been won
And with strength and acceptance, we'll soon see the sun.

Alone, we have but the power of one
but together, our will cannot be undone.
